11pm Baptisms
My goodness the mission is way to good to me right now haha. Last night was a crazy crazy experience, but probably the best day of my mission! I'll start with the crazy part. So last night we are in our house planning for our week and we recieve a call at 9:10pm. Turned out it was the president of the mission! He asked us how fast we could we could at the church to baptize two girls named Thayna and Thalita. Haha so we threw on clothes and ran to the church of course. I have been working with these 2 girls for 16 weeks here. They are super strong in the church and know much there is to know, but there mom has never let them be baptized. But long story short, there was a young womans activity at the church last night and another member talked to their mom and convinced her to allow their baptism. So at 10:43pm they were both baptized and confirmed at 10:59. The whole ward showed up and it was the most people id ever seen at a baptism. It was such an awesome, spiritual experience. We finally got home at 11:30 and called President Ribeiro. He knew we'd be out late, but he alllowed it as an exception and was super happy to know it all went well. Me and my comp were kinda freaking out all night cause it was just so crazy but it was soooo fun.
AND.....about 9 hours before all this happened, we were able to baptize Yuri! He is the son of the family we are working with right now. The parents, Rosanna and Edilson, are working on paperwork for marriage and hopefully we will set a date for their baptisms this week or next week. Rosanna was super emotional the whole day and started crying when i went up to bear my testimony during sacrament. She was crying before the baptism and we were scared it was because she was having mixed feelings about it all but she said it was just joy that her son was getting this opportunity. We have created such a great relationship with that family and hopefully its another baptism that i can return to if i end up being transferred here in 2 weeks.
Im really starting to feel completely normal with my life here and loving the mission. I see miracles in this work literally every day and there is no way i could describe them all to y'all. But I know the Lord's hand is guiding our work here and I know He is at the head of this church. There isnt a doubt in my mind that this church is true!
I love you all have a good week!
