Bakery or Butt

Hey everyone! Week 2 down in Brazil! Its a little easier every day and i learn every day. I can say a lot of things, but understanding is still hard. I know the more words i learn, the more i will be able to pick them out in conversation. I've talked to some american missionaries and they said it took them 9 weeks in Brazil to be able to understand most of what people said. Which seems like a lot but i know the lord will bless me if i rely on him and keep doing my best every day. 

Funniest things i saw this week was we were standing outside the church one day and two police cars were chasing something and right in front of the church is a big speed bump. the cops hit the speed bump going a solid 50 mph at least and caught air. it literally happened right in front of my eyes and i just couldnt stop laughing. The other thing from this week was when we were walking i saw a word and looked it up in my dictionary. The word was "padaria". turns out the word has two meanings in english. it means both bakery and butt lol. maybe now y'all can understand why this language is so difficult sometimes. 

So...this week we have been teaching lots of people. especially a guy named carlos. he is about 22 and seems to be taking in all our lessons really well. we challenged him to be baptized this week and he said he would like to be, but he needs to talk to his parents because they are catholic. We also met a 12 year old boy named Gabriel at church this week who has come to church with his cousins who are members and has a desire to be baptized too. we will talk to them both this week and hopefully can baptize them both on saturday. nothing is ever for sure here which has become very apparent to me this week. some people are just not very good at keeping commitments and its hard as a missionary to understand why. but i know God has a plan for each one of them and if they are ready to receive the gospel. i just need to make sure i do my part to teach with the spirit and try to help them in any way i can. 

Compared to most of the missionaries and people that live here, i have had an easy life to say the least. but i admire how positive they are about everything and try to do the same. this is the hardest things ive ever had to do, but i know i can always count on one thing when i dont have anyone familiar from back home with me. if i truly have faith in and rely on my Heavenly Father, he will help me in times of need. i challenge you all to do the same with whatever is going on in your life! make your prayers extra special this week. thank the lord for the blessings in your life and ask him to help you where you need help. trust that He will do just that.

Sao Paulo North about to get iPhones!

Haha so the long wait here in South America may be coming to an end. My cellphone from 2002 is gonna get a little bit better soon! My mission was chosen to do a flight project of more advanced cell phones for missionaries here in South America like they have in the U.S, Canada, etc. Its very slow going and we will have very little access to things but its an exciting step that I know will help us to be more productive and effective and overall help edify even more the kingdom of God here on earth. This week we are really working with some elects. Sadly, Bruno didnt work out this Sunday, but we are still working with him to be baptized this next week. But I am super super excited about the rest of the people we are working with. Sara first of all is way firm for this Sunday. She has made a huge huge progress recently. Taking cold showers in 50 degree weather!

this week our hot water/electricity stopped working exactly in the coldest week of the year hahah. But its mission memories so I was all down for it. When you get really hyped up its not even that cold. Hahah sometimes in my prayers I just ask the Lord for experiences. I dont specify the kind of experiences I want, but I know the mission is all about experiences so I've been able to have all kinds of experiences while here in Brazil. Thats what I love so much about the mission is you really never know what your day is gonna be like and who you will end of meeting, etc.  This week our focus was marking a date with Aldair. He has already been to church 3 times and had already accepted baptism, but we werent able to mark a specific date with him. When we went there on Wednesday, he was super firm in wanting to be baptized on this next sunday the 15th. We feel that he really was an elect from the Lord.
